26 random things about me

I was thinking about not blogging anymore because I thought no one read this, but evidently I have a lot of anonymous readers because I have been getting lots of requests for a new post. Thank you guys, you make me feel like I am special, so here's your new post and I will try to do better. =)

1. I was bit by a copperhead snake on my foot when I was about 6 or 7. Jesse and I were at my cousin Josh's house walking home and I stepped into a pile of leaves that evidently had a snake curled up in it. Luckily, I had on my trusty Keds (remember them and how cool they were?) and one of the fangs got caught in the rubber lining at the top of the shoe while the other fang went into the arch of my foot. Those Keds saved my life, literally, because I was able to fight off the venom since it was not a full dosage. Long live Keds! LOL.

2. I played a large role in catching a former supervisor who was embezzling money from a store that I worked at. I noticed one night that a return sales slip had very straight lines in the signature. If you have ever signed on one of those electronic things at Wal-Mart you know that it makes your handwriting look like a five year old's so I knew that this was too perfect of a signature to be genuine. I took it to the head manager and we did an investigation where the lady finally confessed that she was taking expensive merchandise off the rack and ringing it up as a return, then pocketing the money.

3. I am a member of the MPMP. If you don't know what that means, you're obviously not a member. LOL.

4. I have learned that, contrary to popular belief, if you own your own business you have no freedom. It seems nice to be able to set your own hours but the truth is that you have to work very long hours just to make any money and then you think about your business 24-7 even when you are not working.

5. I am allergic to cats and it is so bad sometimes that if I just walk into PetSmart when they are having their cat adoption day, my eyes immediately swell shut and water and I start sneezing uncontrollably. I do not enjoy being around cats. At all. Sure, they can be cute, but they are my kryptonite.

6. It is SO ANNOYING when people ask me when I'm going to have a baby. I guarantee that I still get asked that at least twice a week.

7. I have a little bit of road rage and once made the comment "I hate it when people turn!" and now I get reminded of that comment every time I am in a car and someone is turning. I still laugh, though, because it does annoy me when people slow down to 5 miles per hour for a good 45 seconds before turning.

8. My first paying interior design job was helping with a box suite at Alltel Arena. I still get to do work there, too, and it is one of the funnest jobs!

9. My license plate "MBTWNTY" stands for Matchbox Twenty. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them!!! I have heard many creative things about what my license plate stands for, though.

10. I can tell when people are lying (I have heard more than my fair share and have become somewhat jaded because of it), and sometimes I call them out on it, but other times I have realized it is just not worth my breath.

11. Lee and I love to travel. We have been fortunate enough to go to Cancun, the Bahamas, New York City, and Las Vegas recently. Hands down, my favorite is New York City. It is magical. If you have never been, you should definitely go!!

12. I have come to realize who true friends are. It is amazing to me that there are so many selfish, dishonest, and deceitful people out there (and in my life for that matter), but I truly treasure those few good souls that are in my life. You guys are the ones who help me make through.

13. I love the Ellen Degeneres Show! She is so funny. Lee and I tivo it every day!

14. I love the Twilight books and secretly wish to be a Cullen. LOL.

15. I don't believe in New Year's Resolutions. I think they are just an excuse for people.

16. I have recently started using the Philosophy skincare line and I really like it.

17. I do not believe in abortion. Period.

18. I am practically a vegetarian. There are still a few exceptions of meat that I will eat. I know that most people do not understand it, but it is a personal choice.

19. "I like my dogs better than a lot of people." I saw a sign that said that, but the sad thing is that I agree with it. My dogs have such personalities and they love me no matter what.

20. I used to be Team Aniston (I even have a Team Aniston shirt) but in light of recent events, I am changing to Team Jolie. Don't get me wrong, I am still strongly against cheating, but Jennifer Aniston has been saying a lot of inappropriate things lately while Angie is taking the high road and I respect her for that. It is very challenging to keep your mouth shut whenever you have people blatantly trashing you. Trust me, I know. But in the end the truth will come out. Actions speak much louder than words.

21. I collect Hallmark Christmas ornaments.

22. I wish that someone could combine the best of fast food restaurants and offer them in one place. For example, McDonalds fries with a Burger King hamburger and a Dairy Queen milkshake.

23. I am one of the few people who enjoys close captioning on movies.

24. I truly believe in setting goals and then working hard to achieve them.

25. I really enjoy having poker nights and board game nights at my house. We always have the best time!!!

26. I really want to know what happened to Natalee Holloway, I need that closure. I have my suspicions and if they are accurate, I hope she rests in peace and receives justice.
